R.S. Puram
R.S. Puram also known as Rathinasabapathy Puram.
This is a well planned colony promoted by the Coimbatore Municipality in 1950′s for housing.D.B Road is the main central road that connects all the other streets.
In recent years it has become too commercial and has lost its charm for what it was steadily from late 80′s.
The Colony started of with a few conservative Brahmin households and few teachers from the TNAU College in 1960 and is one of the quite hamlets of Coimbatore.
The colony has a temple located as its “GramaDevathai” and the temple is called the “KalyanaSubramanian Swamy Temple” and has “Lord Vigneswarar” as the main deity and Lord Murugan, Lord Shiva, Lord Anjaneyar, Goddess Durga and the Navagraha as the other Deities.
All the pujas are conducted in regularity and with a lot of religious fervour.
The mainstay attraction of the temple is that the famous Uzhavar Sandhai is located right opposite the temple.
R.S.Puram is a nice residential and coomercial area in Coimbatore.
The main street is known as D.B.road or Divan Bahadur road and has all types of shops and eateries.
R.S. Puram is a posh area, the D.B Road starts from the compund of the famous Forest College Campus.
Forest college is the one of the oldest land mark of the british, where british forest officers started Madras Forest College.
Inside the campus, the State Forest Service College, Tamil Nadu Forest Academy and Institute of Forest Genitics & Tree Breeding are the institutions imparting training to the inservice forest officials and research activities on tree breeding is going on.
The famous Gass Museum is inside the campus.
The residents R.S.Puram used go for Morning & Evening walk to get fresh air.
